Character names in Delang has to follow the constraints listed in the Consonants and Vowels pages. In addition to those constraints there are a few things you should beware of.
- Most names of French origin will work directly within the Illomi culture. You would of course need to use the Delang phonetic equivalent.
- Names containing the letter sequence -ia- cannot be exist in Delang. Although not apparent from the English point of view, these names brakes the I vs. J constrain. In Russian these names are written -ия-, which is transcribed to Delang as -ija- or -іја-. There's also no way around this constraint, so just drop such names.
- Names of Hebrew or Biblical origin has no place in Illomi culture as Christianity doesn't exist there either. Same goes for Arabic names.
- Do not use words or non-personal names from the dictionary as personal names. You can, however, use words from the dictionary, or any collection of sounds that are within the phonetic constraints of Delang as Clan names.
- You may use double names for your character.
